Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting

The Greystar Corporate Accounting team plays a critical role within Greystar’s accounting organization. This team is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of Greystar’s parent level company and enterprise shared services teams. This accounting team supports the Office of the CEO and Office of the CFO, as well as all the centralized Enterprise Services functions of Technology, People and Culture, Communications, Brand and Customer Experience, Risk Management, Corporate Accounting and Tax. This role will apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for Enterprise Services functions and executive leadership.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Compiles and analyzes financial information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports and makes appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking calculations, reviewing basis for figures, and balancing and reconciling figures.
• Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit and ensures accuracy.
• Reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
• Maintains the timely completion and distribution of financial reports for accounting manager review and assists in resolving discrepancies and variances in actuals-to-budget.
• Assists in answering questions, provides research data and information as requested, and explains journal entries and financial transactions as needed.
• Assists with reforecasting, annual business planning and budgeting, as well as ad hoc financial requests of the parent level company and enterprise shared services functional leaders in order to facilitate data-driven decision making.
• Communicates with team members to answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time reporting.
• Completes various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.
